Over time, phones with 5G connectivity have increased the offer on the market, and there are many who sacrifice the quality of some component to give balance: the quality of the cameras, the battery or the camera system. There are "few", precisely, those that achieve an evident balance and that, on that element of justice, add benefits to the user. NIUSGEEK has tested a Poco X3 GT and, frankly, it has left us amazed.

Little X3 GT in design: manual work

Plastic. The first feeling when gripping is not the most satisfactory on this device, if we compare the textures offered by the X3 Pro or the F3. However, it does not bother in daily use when we cover it with the included gel protector. This block respects the style of Xiaomi to the letter with the interaction buttons on the right of the panel and the entry for the SIM on the left, keeping that panel "superimposed" on the chassis.

In this case, we find a speaker and an infrared emitter on the top, while the other speaker and the USB-C charging and data port rest on the base. On the back, almost like a tracing, the POCO logo is housed at the other end of the rectangular arrangement of cameras on a duotone back that adds a texture that tries to emulate graphite.

Despite the "slightly rough" finish, it feels like a lightweight and easy-to-handle device.

Poco X3 GT on screen: 120 hertz IPS

Poco X3 GT Review: The Rival to beat this 2021 in the upper midrange

2021 is the year in which screens with high refresh rates have become popular, and Poco adds an IPS with good color and sufficient brightness to view content on the street in direct light. By software, this X3 GT boosts the color gamut for a more saturated experience and adds the "always extreme" MIUI invasive dark mode.

However, this X3 GT does not escape the IPS tradition: dark tones slightly washed out and with those gray accents between 10 and 170 degrees in viewing angles.

In addition to the plastic cover, we have a screen with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus to protect the equipment from scratches. For multimedia content, FullHD resolution is appreciated on all platforms. The tactile response is within expectations.

Poco X3 GT in software: MIUI POCO version

In truth, there is not much - or anything - that differentiates the experience between the “Redmi” or “Poco” ranges within Xiaomi. Android 11 is maintained under MIUI 12.5.2 and security updates in the Play Store until August. Ideal.

In this POCO launcher we find the order of the apps based on color and the traditional system optimizers. However, and fortunately, we do not have too much pre-installed software load, although we do not escape the double "Xiaomi - Google" apps that are integrated when starting the equipment.

Poco X3 GT on cameras: the bare minimum

With this Poco X3 GT, we're keeping a simple three-lens arrangement: 64MP main, 8MP wide-angle, and 2MP macro. they deliver a very even experience and that, without problems, can satisfy your demands on social networks. In the case of the main lens, backlight handling is tremendous, powered by computational processing in every shot.

The wide-angle lens gets a bit of noise when faced with low light, but overall it maintains color in all conditions. Of course, to balance the celestial sky, he usually sacrifices the exposure by adding light.

The macro lens is efficient, but we can't ask for much for 2MP. Suddenly a 5MP one like the Redmi Note 10 Pro would help more on this issue.

At night, the team tends to squash the depth of the shots a bit with night mode, but nothing serious. The good thing is that we can integrate the wide angle lens into this capture method and achieve a bit more field of view, but with some increase in noise.

The 16MP front sensor works very well, but it tends to lighten shots automatically when it detects the face. I almost always got slightly overexposed photos.

In video, the wide angle gives us a maximum zoom of 2X, while the main lens reaches 6X. Although we do not have optical stabilization, the EIS works very well and has two stages. AI support in video allows us to only work in 720p. Without problems, we are facing a competent team for jobs of all kinds, and that works well for publications on social networks.

Little X3 GT in performance: MediaTek surprises with Dimensity

For a few months, MediaTek's work on its “Dimensity” range is becoming worrying for Qualcomm, due to the short distance in performance. This six-nanometer Dimensity 1100 is a tremendous surprise, and it delivers remarkable performance that matches the pieces chosen by Poco: UFS 3.1 internal memory, 8GB of RAM and from 128GB of storage.

In terms of connectivity, the device is compatible with 5G and WiFi 6 networks, providing enormous stability for data, a useful option for downloading very heavy games. With Bluetooth 5.2 I had no major problem pairing headphones and watches during my testing time.

Since we mentioned gaming the 3D rendering loads very fast in games like Airline Commander or Call of Duty Mobile. Already in Genshin Impact we can reach a good optimization, but we begin to force the Mali G77 that accompanies this Dimensity.

Multimedia is enjoyed with the stereo output and the FullHD panel, since we have HDR10 support. We have no complications to load streaming apps and extend the content to the entire panel.

The side fingerprint sensor works fine, although I've had 8 out of 10 successful attempts. The facial unlocking goes without problems, although we limit it with the use of a mask on the street.

Overall, the thrust of the Dimensity 1100 inside this Poco X3 GT is outstanding in every way. Fast, efficient and with a good jump of screens. There must be something wrong with the battery.

Poco X3 GT: ultra-fast charging is everything

The battery is the best thing about this device. On the one hand, the 5000 mAh lasts a day and a half at a run. I have been able to register up to 35% to spare in a very intense daily session, so we will have endurance.

The best thing, however, is the inclusion of a 67W charger in the box. This allowed us to go from zero to 100 in just over 45 minutes, brutal. The 33W charge is already very efficient in the other models, but in this case Xiaomi jumps up to 67 in this model and it's great.

Little X3 GT: NIUSGEEK's Opinion

Go for it. I don't see a major drawback in the team's weak points: the low-premium finish and the software. The rest is tremendous, balanced and efficient. Starting at less than 1,700 soles, it's the best phone money can buy right now, if you don't mind using IPS.

Equipment loaned by Xiaomi Peru from August 20 until the publication of the review. Market price: 1799 in the official store of the brand.
